After several years of technical challenges with its hybrid propulsion system, Rivers of Steel has made the difficult decision to sell the Explorer following an insurance settlement.
This step strengthens our operations and allows us to focus on the continued development of the Carrie Furnaces site, a key National Historic Landmark and gateway to the Mon Valley.
The Explorer’s educational legacy continues through our growing K-12 Environmental Sciences programs, now based at the Carrie Furnaces campus and expanding to include metal arts and hands-on learning for a growing number of students.
