Exhibitions at the Bost Building
The Rivers of Steel archives have served as a repository for thousands of donated and sourced items that tell of the story of the Pittsburgh Industrial District’s domination of the steel industry throughout the better part of the 20th century. These collections are the inspiration for exhibitions displayed in the galleries of the Bost Building.
Breaking Ground by Valery Lyman
Breaking Ground by Valery Lyman was a traveling, site-specific, multi-media installation that was installed at the Carrie Blast Furnaces from August 22 – 24, 2019.
Aggregate by Ian Brill
Rivers of Steel commissioned local Pittsburgh artist Ian Brill to create a new site-specific art installation in the exterior glass stairwell of the Bost Building that was on temporary display from May 1 – December 31, 2019.
Alloy Pittsburgh was conceived as a laboratory for artists to investigate the Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark and respond though the creation of temporary site-based artworks.
