Festival of Combustion

Due to ongoing concerns relating to the Coronavirus outbreak, the 2021 Festival of Combustion has been cancelled.  Please stay tuned and join Rivers of Steel for the 2022 Festival of Combustion, celebrating our 25th Anniversary through the industrial arts and American crafts at the Carrie Blast Furnaces. Showcasing the creativity and innovation our region’s artists, makers, and builders.

Experience the Festival

The Festival of Combustion features hands-on activities for adults and children alike with demonstrations and experiences throughout the entire day and evening. And dont miss the first ever fireworks display over the Carrie Blast Furnaces at dusk!

Festival-goers can expect a full day of exciting demonstrations and hands-on experiences from iron casting to raku ceramics and more. Festival favorites like Fiestaware Mosaics workshops will be back again in 2021 with new make-and-take activities for the whole family.

Take a mini tour of the Carrie Blast Furnaces between workshops and visit the new PG&H Marketplace to score some unique local products created by the region’s most exciting makers. With food trucks, craft beer and live music all day and night there's plenty to explore!

Thanks to everyone who joined us in 2019 for Pittsburgh's hottest event of the year! We can't wait to show you what we have in store for 2021, so stay tuned!
