About:
Alloy Pittsburgh 2013 opened to the public on Saturday September 28th, 2013. The project advisory panel selected all emerging artists from the Pittsburgh area whose collective passion and unique talent, helped launch the first ever Alloy Pittsburgh project. Alloy Pittsburgh 2013 began with a free public lecture series. Presenters included internationally recognized installation artist and MacArthur Fellow Ann Hamilton; author, photographer and landscape designer Rick Darke; historian and spoken-word artist Chuck Lanigan; and local sculptor Tim Kaulen. The Alloy Pittsburgh Public Lecture Series complimented research activities occurring on site and established a forum where artists and communities could come together to explore the creative reuse of Pittsburgh’s postindustrial landscape.
”As a newly arrived artist to Pittsburgh participating in Alloy Pittsburgh connected me to local artists and curators. From these initial interactions I have developed lasting professional relationships that have led to collaboration on other projects.
