EVENT SPACES

The Pump House

With its historic charm, textural spaces, and a unique legacy, the Pump House at the Waterfront is an in-demand venue for weddings and celebrations.

Riverfront views, exposed-brick walls, wooden plank floorboards, plenty of parking, and a centralized location all make the Pump House a great gathering space for special events.

A HISTORICAL LANDMARK

More than an event space

Situated just across the Monongahela River from the Carrie Blast Furnaces, the historic Pump House at the Waterfront was once part of the U.S. Steel Homestead Works. Its origins date back to 1892 when it was built by the Carnegie Steel Company.

That same year, it was the site of the Battle of Homestead, a defining moment in the nation’s labor history. Today, the building helps to interpret the tumultuous events of 1892, as well as to highlight the illustrious steel-making legacy of the region.

As the owner and steward of the Pump House and surrounding grounds, Rivers of Steel secures its industrial and cultural legacy for future generations, while allowing for its use as a public and private multipurpose site.

WEDDINGS

Ceremony + Reception

Featuring brick walls, arched windows, and old-growth plank floorboards, the interior feels less like the industrial relic it is and more like a step back in time. The surrounding grounds, which include a lush green riverscape with an adjacent, meditative stone labyrinth and blooming bioswale, offer a natural respite from the conveniently located shops and hotels just down the way.

As a venue, the Pump House is well situated for wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as other family gatherings. Its affordable rates and amenities make it a preferred choice for many clients—as a destination itself or paired with the Carrie Blast Furnaces for a multiple location event.
