Volunteering

Are you ready to get out of the house and connect with others? Are you looking to put your skills to use or gain new ones? Are you interested in giving back to your community?

Rivers of Steel is seeking an array of volunteers to help us expand our services and improve our experiences.

Rivers of Steel is a small nonprofit with a big mission: Founded on the principles of heritage development, community partnership, and a reverence for the region’s natural and shared resources, Rivers of Steel strengthens the economic and cultural fabric of western Pennsylvania by fostering dynamic initiatives and transformative experiences.

One of the ways we do this is through heritage tourism. Opportunities exist at each of our four historic sites—you can assist in serving the residents of, and visitors to, our region.

Help to maintain and preserve the Carrie Blast Furnaces. Assist on the frontlines, greeting guests at the Visitors Center for the National Heritage Area. Be an extra set of hands (or eyes) at events. Work behind the scenes in the archives or as administrative support. Rivers of Steel has a role that likely meets your interests.

For more information, take a look at our Volunteer Form here and submit your information. Christine will follow up with you shortly to connect you with available opportunities.

No need to worry—no skills are necessary, just a desire to help your community. All pandemic-precautions will be in place to ensure the highest measures of safety. Even if you are not ready to volunteer just yet (and would rather wait until a post-pandemic time), go ahead and reach out to us today!

Thank you!
